Which of the essays was your favorite?

I found that I liked both of the essay's on lowering and keeping the drinking age’s the same.  I liked it the most because there were a lot of views on it and many people seemed to take interest in it.  Just about the whole class spoke up for once and gave their views on it.  I feel like it doesn’t matter if you lower the drinking age.  In my personal experience it seems like anyone, of any age, is going to drink if they want to.  Just about anybody these days can find someone who is 21 or over to get them alcohol.  Just about everybody has at least tried some form of alcohol by the time they graduate high school.  I feel like those ideas about having a drinking permit are also a huge waste of time because it’s simply too much effort, and honestly nothing would change.  Even if the drinking age was raised it wouldn’t make a difference because people would still find some means of getting there alcohol.  People need to realize that there is no putting a stop to underage drinking because it will truly never stop.  Drinking underage is already a law that can be punished by extreme measures, and still almost all teenagers do it.  This should be more than enough to convince you that teenagers are going to drink, regardless of the drinking age.

Is a college education a necessity in the job market today?

A college education is definitely necessary in the job market today.  The things people do nowadays require precision and near perfection to be completed the way that they are supposed to.  It also seems that the people in the job market, who have college education, are more motivated, have better work ethics, and strive to do better in their work performance.  If you try and get a job and don’t have a college education of some kind, then the odds are that you aren’t going to get the job.  This isn’t necessarily because you don’t know how to do the job, it’s just because the odds are that there is an applicant somewhere who has college education under his belt who wants the job also.  Employers look at this and figure that they know for a fact that the person with college education knows how to do this because he went to college.  You may know how to do the job better but employers simply don’t want to take the risk of finding out.  It is a good thing though because when you require service of some sort, no matter what it may be upon, then you are most likely going to get the service done correctly because most people have college education.  Thus, college education is almost a necessity in everyday life and is a big part of life.

thoughts on the world ending in 2012

I definitely don’t believe that the world will end in 2012.  And even if something crazy happened like a meteor hit the earth or we went into an ice age for some reason, the earth still wouldn’t end because I am one hundred percent positive that at least some humans would survive.  I know it might sound wrong but I think the people that are basing their lives off of these types of theories, are simply wasting the time they have on earth and wasting other people’s time as well.  It seems to me like people want so hard not to be wrong about it because they’ve claimed it would happen for so long, and they are trying to get other people to believe it and it is making the world think way too much about it.  I think if the world is going to end, then there isn’t a single thing any of us can do to stop it.  All we can do is sit back and enjoy our front row seats.  If the world was going to end I know for sure I wouldn’t be thinking about it all the time because that would just put too much stress on life and make you forget about all the great things you have.  A lot of people take it for granted, but just living on earth is a blessing and should be cherished every single day.  If someone tried to tell me that the world was going to end I would definitely just be a mule the whole time with things such as “no it’s not” or “haha, your dumb for thinking that”.  The only way my mind would change on the matter is if I saw a comet or something coming for the earth then I would speed straight to the house with the green punch bug.

The Casey Anthony trial

If you ask me I would definitely say this is a huge trial.  I would say that at least half of America has been watching this trial.  I know I watch it every single day at work.  I've watched it from the beginning, all the way to the verdict watch that we're on now.  There are so many factors to think about when trying to judge this case.  There honestly isn't any proof that she killed her daughter, but there are so many motives if you actually take the time to look.  She has so many photos of herself partying and hanging out with friends.  It seems as if she thought her life would be better if she didn't have a daughter.  One of the worst things against her is how she repeatedly changed her story and didn't even seem to be grieving at all about the death of her daughter.  Another bad thing toward her is a phone call she made to her mother from the jail.  She didn't even want to talk about her missing daughter, all she wanted was her boyfriend’s number and she didn't even seem worried about her missing daughter.  Yesterday the jury went back to the jury room to decide the fate of Casey Anthony.  Some experienced judges and law personnel in general were saying that this verdict watch could go on for as long as three days if not longer.  In all honesty i believe it’s the truth when the prosecutor said people don't make accidents look like murder.  If I was on the jury I know exactly what my vote would be in this case.  But at this time I can’t give that information out. *cough* guilty *cough*.

Should annual CT scans be given to detect early signs of lung cancer--and should insurance or the individual pay for these scans?

I do believe annual CT scans should be given to detect early signs of lung cancer.  I believe this because so many people are sort of oblivous to the fact that anybody can have lung cancer, and because of this so many people have lung cancer and dont even realize it.  And I definitely do 100% believe that insurance companies should pay for this.  Everyone in the world already pays the insurance companies so much more money than is actually required.  Most people pay insurance and never even get seriously injured or sick, thus they are just giving the insurance companies free money just so they feel that little piece of protection that is offered by insurance companies in the case that they do get injured or hurt.  Insurance companies make a big deal about giving people a few thousand dollars for experimental cancer treatment and other things of that nature, even though they know that these few thousand dollars barley even dent their pockets.  I do understand that every year the total population of the earth grows.  This means that there are more people every day that get lung cancer and require more money from the insurance people.  But on the other hand since there are more people then there are also more people who are paying the insurance companies so they are still gaining huge profits anyways.  These are the reasons i belive that lung canger CT's should be administered annually and that insurance companies should help people pay for it because its a matter of preserving the human race for endless years to come.

What do you think? Is the internet a means of endless fascination or is it promoting distraction and interfering with our ability to concentrate for extended periods of time?

I think the internet is a means of endless fascination.  The internet opens millions and millions of windows and doors that I like to believe are filled with opportunity.  What you do with the opportunities is up to you however.  You can literally connect with anyone in the world on the internet, be it via Facebook, twitter, or anything that you can find for that matter.  You can get any information on the internet that you can get from any college class in the world, plus some.  You can watch any sporting events of the past and you can watch any sporting events that are going on at that exact time.  You can check on anything you want.  You can see how much money you have in the bank, check stocks to see what’s up and down, or simply buy anything you want from anywhere you want.  If you want to know figure out the answer to any questions you have or need to figure out answers for a class test, the odds are you can find anything you need 99.99999% of the time.  You can book hotels/motels wherever you wish to go.  You can book reservations at any places that offer that service.  You can really just set up anything you need to do ahead of time so you aren’t waiting around on something when you need to be doing something else.  The best thing about the internet is that in this point in time, you can do any and all of these things, plus almost infinite more things, faster than you can read them off of my blog.  The internet is definitely a means of endless fascination and the world would most definitely not be what it is today without the internet. ilysel :D

Television is rightly termed the "idiot box"

I would say that I don’t fully agree with this, but this is simply because I’m a television lover ha-ha.  I do agree in some aspects though.  When you’re watching TV it is like an idiot box because you’re just staring at a box with a picture in it for hours on end and you usually end up losing track of time and watching a lot more TV. than you wanted to initially.  There are so many things on TV. nowadays though that you really are learning something about something on just about everything you watch.  Even watching reality game shows is good to me because you are trying to get questions right and even when you’re wrong you learn the right answer in the end.  There are some shows though that I believe hold no purpose but to simply entertain and don't expose any evidence of trying to teach.  I believe that if you could take the same person and make him/her watch television all day or make them read all day, that the version which watches television all day will initially become smarter because of the vast amount of information that comes out of a television.  If you wanted to you could actually watch something like that 70's show and maybe the discovery channel at the same time, because neither require that your fully 100% immersed into the show to get the full meaning out of it.  To finish this I will say that I am a television lover and I always will be! :)

The supreme court ruling in the wal-mart case

I would definitely have to say that I agree with the decision.  There are way too many female employees at way to many locations to try and lump them all together and show some kind of similarity in how the female employees get paid less or that female employees get less promotion opportunities.  I did read that three individual women, who were plaintiffs in the case, had a chance to pursue their lawsuits with Wal-Mart however.  I would definitely have to agree with these women if they actually were discriminated against in any way though.  There should be even pay and even promotion opportunities for all men and women alike.  It’s getting to a time in the world now that I can surely say that it isn’t a man’s world anymore.  Women are putting their foot down everywhere and stepping up to show everyone their skills and what they can do.  I know one thing for certain, if I was a boss of the world’s largest privately owned organization, and I had to choose between hiring myself or my girlfriend, then I know I definitely wouldn’t even think about getting that job because my girlfriend has the type of attitude where she strives to do the best in everything she does and always makes those minor tweaks just to squeeze out that piece of perfection that she knows she’s able to.  She is very goal-oriented and doesn’t accept things like no or I can’t.  I feel like I’m writing a role model blog now, lol, because she definitely is my role model and inspires me like no other can and keeps me rolling along this road called life.

What would you attempt if you knew you couldnt fail?

If I knew I couldn't fail, I would probably attempt to win the lottery.  I already have everything else I could want in life, so why not make life a little easier by winning millions and millions of dollars.  If I won I don’t think I would honestly tell anybody though.  I would give some of the close people to me large donations to help their lives out probably.  I would take my girlfriend and I and move into a very nice house around the beach somewhere.  I like to skateboard, so I'd probably build a skate park wherever i chose to move to.  I wouldn't buy any of those super fancy cars because I’d rather just give myself something to do by buying an older car and trying my best to fix it up.  I would definitely have to say that I would buy a Burger King.  I would probably also buy a chic-fil-a.  Also I would buy an Olive Garden and an El Broncos, because those are two of my girlfriends’ favorite places to eat.  I would probably try my best to invest some money, so my children will one day be as well off as I would be if I won the lottery.  I would probably buy a pool hall so I could go and shoot free whenever I want to.  Actually I would only spend the money my girlfriend would let me spend because I would most likely give it all to her because she is way better than I am with money.  I actually definitely would because if I didn’t then this list would go on forever and I don’t think my class time allows for this so I guess in three words I shall stop.

What keeps you motivated?

There are many things that keep me motivated, but the first thing that motivates me, is me.  If I dont set my mind to something, then there is no possible way to accomplish it.  My family motivates me.  I have many family members that have went down the wrong path, and I just dont want to see myself going down any of those predetermined paths of failure and missery.  My Mom does everything I ask of her because she wants to support me as much as she can, and try and make everything as easy as possible on me.  My Dad is essentially the same way, just alot more calm about most situations.  My Friends motivate me in ways that might make others uneasy.  They constantly joke on me if I happen to make a mistake on something, or happen to make a wrong decision.  They do this because they know I'm the type of person who responds to stuff like that by trying my best to fix what I've done and turn my bad situations into good ones.  One of the biggest motivations I have is my wonderful girlfriend.  She motivates me to do things I never would have done or even thought I could do.  She helps me through each and everything I do, and lights my path when it gets dark.  She believes in me in everything I do and everything i try and pursue.  These are the things that motivate me and are helping me sit where I am and write this very blog.

Do you long for the past or look eagerly toward the future?

I don't often find myself longing for the past, simply because the future seems filled with so much more excitement.  This doesn't mean that I dont long for those high school days filled with friends around every turn or those much easier requirements to exceed in class.  Every once in a while this happens, but at this point in time the future just keeps popping out with newer and more exciting things to look forward too.  I am very eager to learn what the future holds for me.  I want to have that excitement of being 21 and going to a 21 and up bar with my friends and drinking the night away and telling stories from the past that everybody laughs at.  I'm eager and scared to someday kneel down before the woman of my dreams, and pray for that yes in return for my words.  I'm eager to someday to be a father to children who I can be loving, strict, and friendly to all at the same time.  I'm eager to travel the world and experience more than I ever dreamed that I could.  I'm eager to be a grandfather and if it happens even a great grandfather.  I'm eager to one day, far down the road, lay in my death-bed of pure old age, knowing that i used up every second of my time on Earth enjoying it and spending time with my loved ones and friends.
